Commercial Manager – Brickwork

A highly sought-after opportunity to work with a well-established brickwork company based out of Enfield who have been established for over 35 years. Due to the amount of work recently won and new projects being taken on, my client has never been busier and they have identified the need for a new Commercial Manager.

 

The Duties

  • Oversee the commercial aspects of the projects from inception to completion, ensuring we are adhering to the contractual obligations and financial objectives.
  • Manage the commercial team and provide support / guidance where necessary.
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions to mitigate risks and maximize profitability.
  • Develop and maintain high-level communication with subcontractors and clients.
  • Working to deadlines to ensure we meet our client’s needs.
  • Utilise industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare accurate cost estimates, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Monitor project budgets and financial performance, analysing variances and implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure projects remain on track financially.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers and other stakeholders to develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for projects.
  • Conduct regular financial reporting and analysis to provide stakeholders with insights into project performance, including profitability, cash flow and risk exposure.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on commercial matters, including contract interpretation, and dispute resolution.

 

The Requirements

  • HNC, HND, bachelor’s degree in construction management, Business Administration or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager in Brickwork or Construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement practices and commercial management principles.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and resolve disputes effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, with the ability to interpret financial data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to uphold ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
  • UK Driving License.
